Fat Cat?

October 28, 2009

Kill pussycat! Kill! Kill!

Now before this blog gets bombarded by people outraged at this prize winning kitty heading a post that reads fat cat – we would never in a million years say this gorgeous vision in white fur is fat!

However, there are many cats out there who get, well let’s just say rotund. We hate to deny our babies anything, but sometimes, you just have to. And with a little common sense, your tubby tabby will soon be all svelte and show ready.

  • feed less- Yes, the secret the diet industry has been trying to keep secret for years: eat less and you lose weight. With cats, giving them a fifteen minute window at meal times (before whisking the food away) helps keep your cat in their natural cycle of eating when hungry, but stops the grazing mentality. Cats aren’t natural grazers, and leaving food out all day means they can become lazy and eat just because it’s there, and we all know what that means…
  • high quality – High quality food also helps keep your cat nice and slender. High quality wet food means less fillers and less empty calories and a cat who is healthy, happy and sleek from eating just right.
  • play time – This is one of the most important things in keeping a healthy, fit and perennially young cat. There are so many toys available for even the fussiest of cats (and owners). From Luxury to organic pet supplies, you’ll be able to find the right toy to suit you and your cat. Once you have a few, set aside ten to twenty minutes or so a night to play. You’ll bond, have fun and your cat will get some good exercise in.

Stick to this for a few weeks and you’ll soon have a cat that, while perhaps never going to be a star of the Cat Shows, will always be runway ready.

Top Ten Cat Breeds

October 28, 2009

Cats? Oh, I like cats...

It’s a day in New York City where it’s raining cats and dogs, so it seemed appropriate to share with you the top ten cat breeds.

Unfortunately, I don’t know who this lovely canine is above, but he sure is pretty and very fluffy, and since a cat graced the top ten dogs, it seems only right to have a dog lead the way with the cats.

The top ten are (drum roll please):

  1. Persian
  2. Maine Coon
  3. Exotic (or the short-haired Persian)
  4. Siamese
  5. Abyssinian
  6. Ragdoll
  7. Birman
  8. Oriental
  9. American Shorthair
  10. Tonkinese

Now, I know the tonkinese sounds like she’s a legend in the old honky tonk piano, but I really doubt it.

Tell us what you think of the list, and why your cat should have made the cut!

Keep warm and dry.
