After Bond’s blog entry, we thought it entirely right to honour celebrity dogs, especially those who are bonafide heroes.
Like Drew Barrymore’s chow/labrador mix, Flossie.
Flossie was rescued from a Pasadena flea market way back in 1996 by Drew, and Flossie quickly became like a daughter to Drew. But it was in 2001 that Flossie really showed her true colours.
Drew and her then-husband, Tom Green, were sleeping when a fire broke out. Flossie’s wild barking and loud thumping on the closed bedroom door woke the couple and saved their lives.
Whoever said the ‘ordinary’ could never do the extraordinary was completely wrong.
And Flossie is more than a heroic dog, she’s also a fashionista! Drew encourages Flossie to chew on her new jeans to give them that perfect distressed look.
We wonder if Flossie and Drew will get invites to Bond’s fund-raising cruise?
And please, send us your stories of heroic pets – we’d love to hear them.
