Simon’s Cat – King Of The Fridge

February 29, 2012

Don’t get excited people! There is no new Simon’s Cat film. I repeat, there is no new Simon’s cat film…yet.

But to make it up to you, I know there will be soon (although I don’t know when, exactly). I wanted to share with you not only this fantastic drawing above, which to anyone who’s owned a cat, or lived with a cat, or even known a cat, can see is spot on. Cats love high places, and cats love to be naughty (when they’re not sleeping).

Put another cat into the mix and you pretty much have the scene in the picture above.

One of the things I love about Simon’s Cat is the awesome website, where we get to read blog entries, see behind the scenes stuff, learn about the new movies and also new books, plush toys (I totally want a Simon’s Cat plush toy…how long is it to Christmas again?), and we also get to read the story behind the drawing.

Cool, eh?

I thought so.

Also, the February mega deal is almost over (you have 90 minutes until midnight) for your Royal Treatment products. But don’t be too sad. If you miss it, you won’t be able to get a fantastic deal on the Italian Virgin Olive Oil shampoo; but you will be able to take advantage of whatever the wonderful March deal will be.

Stay tuned…

The Margarita Making Dog

February 28, 2012

Yes, I know, I should wait until it’s Cinco de Mayo, but this is too cute to wait. Also, I’m sure we’ll all forget about this by then (and by we I mean we).

Arbor, the adorable black doggy with the jaunty and rather risque (just go with it) hot pink kerchief, is from Vegas, which means he’s the ultimate party dog, can mix a pretty mean fake Margarita.

Okay, so he’s totally into trying to eat the ice, but he knows he probably shouldn’t (but does anyway, which wins him points), and he also laps at the fake tequila (I don’t even know what that is), which is okay by me. Now, I want to know how you train a cat to do this with real booze, as cats hate booze. However, the cat simply gave me a disdainful look and went back to his nap.

Anyway, enjoy Arbor showing off his bartending skills – he’s awesome!

Oskar The Blind Kitten’s First Toys

February 25, 2012

This video is so adorable it should come with a warning: namely, it just might make you cry.

Oskar the kitten was born blind – without eyes, apparently, and this video was taken the day after his adoption. I love how he just can see with his ears and his other senses and plays just like any other happy kitten – because he IS a happy kitten.

Things like this make you appreciate all you have at home, and shows you that all animals are deserving of love and a happy home. So when you’re looking for a special fur baby friend, just don’t look at the gorgeous kittens and puppies, look at the other kittens and puppies, look at the cats and dogs, too. Because you never know who is the one who’ll change your life for the better just by looking at the superfluous outer package. It’s what’s inside that counts, and the connection you feel when you meet your future best friend.

All you need to do is take one look at Oskar and know he’s something special.

Top 8 Dog Hobbies

February 24, 2012
Some dogs work for a living, others seem to just get by in life with their cuteness. But dogs also have hobbies. It’s true! Like anyone, different dogs have different interests, but there are some universal ones, and we have the top 8 for your perusal.

Walks
Dogs love the outside world. All the new smells and things to see and people to meet. Show them a leash or mention the word ‘walk’ and you’ll have an excited and (possibly) salivating creature on your hands. Walks, as every single dog knows, are super fun!

Fetch, It’s Mine & Other Games
Whether it’s Frisbee in the park, Find the Toy, Fetch, or a perennial dog fave It’s Mine, there are plenty of games for every dog. Whatever the game, one thing is for certain, games are a huge favourite dog hobby.

Treats!
Let’s face it, we all love treats, and dogs are no different. And yes, treats are most definitely a hobby as most dogs love to forage for treats, no matter where they are. On the street, in that suspicious looking puddle, in the rubbish bin, and beneath the kitchen table. Best, though, are the special treats that come from you.

Dog Park
Dog parks are most definitely in the Dog Top 8 hobbies. Why? The dog park is a place where your dog can meet and play with other pups. They will
bound, chase, bark and do doggy things. And dogs love it because it means they get to run about outdoors without their leash!

Bounding
Some dogs don’t call it bounding, they call it dancing, while others say they’re jumping, but it’s all the same thing. Bounding is almost a sport for some dogs, and they love to hone this hobby until they’re at Olympic standards – or is that Best in Show standards? Anyway, ask any dog and he’ll say bounding is super fun.

Eating
No doubt about it. Eating is a hobby of dogs. Some prepare for eating competitions and chow down everything you put in front of them in record time, others will train you for the best food they can get, and others work on getting the tasty morsels and only the tasty morsels. But they love to eat. Period.

Chasing
Cars, cats, rabbits, mailmen, their tails, shadows, chasing is an important part of a dog’s day. It’s fun, it makes a dog look good, so what else can we say about this dog hobby? Nothing.

You’re Home!

No doubt about it, the number one dog hobby of all times is the whole ‘you’re home’ dance they do. They love ‘you’re home’ so much they’d keep you there, coming in the door all day long if they could. We might consider it tiring, but to a dog it’s just the pinnacle of fun.

What are some of your dog’s favourite hobbies that aren’t on this list? We’d love to hear about them!

Top 3 Reasons We Should Groom Our Animals

February 23, 2012

Now, in case you haven’t noticed, Royal Pet Club is the awesome pet blog belonging to Prince Lorenzo Borghese’s Royal Pet Club which sells the gorgeous high end and out of this world range of pet grooming products – Royal Treatment.

Our range of organic and natural pet grooming products for dogs are, quite simply, wonderful. Everyone who tries them raves about them (and yes, they can be used for cats, too; especially the dry shampoo and the spritzes), and notices the incredible difference pre-Royal Treatment groom and post-Royal Treatment groom.

But why should we groom our pets, especially our dogs, apart from the aesthetics we enjoy?

Well, we’re going to give you the top 3 reasons why grooming our animals is a good thing.

3) Grooming Keeps A Pet Healthy, Wealthy & Wise

Okay, perhaps not wealthy (or else why am I not loaded from all the grooming Marvin the Cat does every single day?), but grooming keeps a pet healthy. It cleans the fur, the skin. Some dogs do try and lick themselves clean, but unfortunately they don’t have the right saliva like cats do, so they end up just not smelling good (and not being that clean). A good grooming will give a dog or a long-haired cat that same feel we have after a good shower and shampoo: being clean.

2) The Healing Touch

To groom, you must touch the animal, and touch is so important. It connects us to the pet. We all know how good it feels to pet our favourite fur baby; bad days melt away, gloomy spirits lift. And that’s just us. Our pets react the same way. Ill kitties sometimes have problems cleaning themselves and it depresses a cat to be dirty. A dry shampoo session will do wonders to lift our kitty’s spirits, as will a wipe down with somewipes for the kitty who just isn’t good at cleaning himself. A dog will feel so much better when he’s clean and silky and looking his best.

1) Keeping The Balance

Cats can keep their skin and fur in tip top condition with their naturally inbuilt grooming abilities. But our poor doggy friends often suffer from many different skin conditions. Dry and scaly skin, red patches; dry patches, brittle fur, tangled, fur, dull fur. Ugh. The problem with delicate dog skin and dog skin conditions is so many people don’t know how to tell the difference between different products or even know they can help their pooch.

A good grooming regimen of products perfectly balanced for your pet’s skin and fur will make a world of difference.

A dog that’s been groomed and had his skin soft and supple and moisturised, his fur soft and silky and tangle free, will be a dog who doesn’t shed excessively, a dog who doesn’t scratch all the time, a dog who is relaxed and feeling good about himself. It’s about the balance. And hey, looking good to boot? It’s that lovely extra bonus from grooming.

So now you know the top 3 reasons you should groom your pet – go ahead and check out our products: they’re so good you could use them on yourself.
