Walks
Dogs love the outside world. All the new smells and things to see and people to meet. Show them a leash or mention the word ‘walk’ and you’ll have an excited and (possibly) salivating creature on your hands. Walks, as every single dog knows, are super fun!
Fetch, It’s Mine & Other Games
Whether it’s Frisbee in the park, Find the Toy, Fetch, or a perennial dog fave It’s Mine, there are plenty of games for every dog. Whatever the game, one thing is for certain, games are a huge favourite dog hobby.
Treats!
Let’s face it, we all love treats, and dogs are no different. And yes, treats are most definitely a hobby as most dogs love to forage for treats, no matter where they are. On the street, in that suspicious looking puddle, in the rubbish bin, and beneath the kitchen table. Best, though, are the special treats that come from you.
Dog Park
Dog parks are most definitely in the Dog Top 8 hobbies. Why? The dog park is a place where your dog can meet and play with other pups. They will
bound, chase, bark and do doggy things. And dogs love it because it means they get to run about outdoors without their leash!
Bounding
Some dogs don’t call it bounding, they call it dancing, while others say they’re jumping, but it’s all the same thing. Bounding is almost a sport for some dogs, and they love to hone this hobby until they’re at Olympic standards – or is that Best in Show standards? Anyway, ask any dog and he’ll say bounding is super fun.
Eating
No doubt about it. Eating is a hobby of dogs. Some prepare for eating competitions and chow down everything you put in front of them in record time, others will train you for the best food they can get, and others work on getting the tasty morsels and only the tasty morsels. But they love to eat. Period.
Chasing
Cars, cats, rabbits, mailmen, their tails, shadows, chasing is an important part of a dog’s day. It’s fun, it makes a dog look good, so what else can we say about this dog hobby? Nothing.
You’re Home!
No doubt about it, the number one dog hobby of all times is the whole ‘you’re home’ dance they do. They love ‘you’re home’ so much they’d keep you there, coming in the door all day long if they could. We might consider it tiring, but to a dog it’s just the pinnacle of fun.
What are some of your dog’s favourite hobbies that aren’t on this list? We’d love to hear about them!
