Cat Pushing A Kitten In A Shopping Cart

July 17, 2012

Yes, this picture is all sorts of adorable.

Last week the Daily Mail posted an article about two looking-for-forever-homes kittens. Joey the kitten is only 2 weeks old, and came to the Exeter Axhayes Adoption Centre after his mother was killed by a car. Chesney, the cat in the above photo is his friend and they love to play in the trolley. It seems Chesney has taken a shine to the little tiny kitten.

With so many adorable animals out there looking for a home, I don’t understand why people continuously only buy their pets from breeders. I know many of you have adopted your pets, which is wonderful.

Hopefully the two kittens, along with all the other cats and kittens at the centre find a forever home soon!

Happy 5th Birthday, Maru!

May 24, 2012

Our favourite Japanese Scottish Fold (yes, I know, I always insist on saying that, move along) Maru is celebrating his birthday today!

Like any cat, he celebrates in style. At least, I assume he does, surrounded by sashimi, rare steak cake (steak that’s been formed into a cake…wait, wouldn’t that be steak tartare? But minus all the things bad for cats, so essentially just the steak and perhaps some quail egg drizzled over the top like icing), because while it’s his birthday, we don’t get to see the birthday bash (which just has to include a box of some type).

Instead, we get this adorable video of Maru, with some pretty great music that somehow fits a Maru birthday.

Happy birthday Maru, may you keep making videos for many, many, many more years to come.

Introducing The Kitten Marshmallow – Will Melt Your Heart

April 5, 2012

There are tons of videos of Marshmallow from her very early days on. I decided to start on week 4 – but please feel free to work backwards, if you want, and I know you’re going to want.

Her humans have been chronicling this teeny kitty’s life for us and it’s magical and real and all that kind of thing that people say when teeny tiny babies are shown to them doing their thing because it’s true.

Sweetfurx, the people behind the whole Marshmallow kitten thing give you a really interesting and detailed account of Marshmallow’s progress, and explanations for their decisions, and the way they film and it’s fascinating.

So, what are you doing hanging around here? Go watch the video and watch the rest of the Chronicles of Marshmallow…

Cat Wins At Gambling Game

March 1, 2012

To finish our Cat video trifecta (catfecta if you will), here’s a cute video of an adorable kitty who likes to win. Win at gambling.

You know that game they always play in the movies where some shady but loveable guy is trying to earn an honest buck by swindling tourists out of their money by hiding  something under one of three cups and then mixes them up?

I’ve never worked out why people in movies find this such a cool game to play on the street and lose their money. They could give it to a beggar or a crazy person, or a mugger…it would be much cheaper and easier.

Anyway, this little kitty likes to play this game. He’s got the concentration of Star Wars cat and Hank the Senate Cat’s winning looks. And you’ll love the pure feline moment at the end when Gambling cat says ‘I totally winned.’ (Cats like to say winned rather than won. It’s their way.)

Oskar The Blind Kitten’s First Toys

February 25, 2012

This video is so adorable it should come with a warning: namely, it just might make you cry.

Oskar the kitten was born blind – without eyes, apparently, and this video was taken the day after his adoption. I love how he just can see with his ears and his other senses and plays just like any other happy kitten – because he IS a happy kitten.

Things like this make you appreciate all you have at home, and shows you that all animals are deserving of love and a happy home. So when you’re looking for a special fur baby friend, just don’t look at the gorgeous kittens and puppies, look at the other kittens and puppies, look at the cats and dogs, too. Because you never know who is the one who’ll change your life for the better just by looking at the superfluous outer package. It’s what’s inside that counts, and the connection you feel when you meet your future best friend.

All you need to do is take one look at Oskar and know he’s something special.
