Our friends at Haute or Not Pets have a great article about the actual meaning of ‘the dog days of summer’, so click here to read it!
Speaking of summer and hotness (not in the good, sexy way, but in the temperature way), we’re having a heatwave, or about to, over most of the country. We’re talking temperatures of 90 degrees or higher. Combine that with heavy humidity and you’re going to be really uncomfy and feel like you can’t do anything. You’re going to need to drink lots of extra water and make sure you don’t get sunstroke.
Of course, you have ways to make yourself cool. You can put on lighter clothes, turn on the air, go for a swim.
Your pets can’t.
Think about having to wear a fur coat all year round, no matter how hot it gets.
Our pets have to do that (the furry kind!), and they can’t get their own water, and they can’t turn on the air or go for a swim when they want. So you have to really be their best friend during really hot weather. When you’re at work, don’t leave the air off, put the timer on, so your pet is comfortable. Leave out plenty of wanter for your pet to hydrate with. As for swimming, well, most cats aren’t going to go in for that, but with your dogs, that’s going to be your time together.
Keep your pet comfortable during the heatwave, and you’ll have a happy, healthy pet.

For years centuries people have been expressing their love or admiration for another person, a thing, a creature – the list goes on – in the written word and most especially in music.
And this is no exception. Country music all about dogs!
We’ll let our pals at Haute or Not Pets explain everything – complete with some actual music!
Celebrate your dog!

Training your dog…it’s something that every dog owner should do. A trained dog is a well-behaved dog, and one that doesn’t rule the house (well, beyond you getting the best treats and food, and having pampering spa days, not to mention letting your pup sleep on the bed…)
Our sexy friends at Haute or Not have given you doggy owners a great little tip today, and we’d be remiss not to share. so here you go, all about the ‘leave it’ command!

It’s that time of year again where people set off fireworks and many a dog starts trembling!
What should you do if your dog is stressed out by the cracking thundery sound of pretty fireworks? And what is you’re desperate to take your furry best friend with you to watch them (and enjoy a good BBQ)?
Well, luckily our friends at both Haute or Not have come to our rescue with some fantastic advice on precautions and prepping your pup so the experience will be a much less scary (and for some dogs, a fine one!). The advice comes courtesy of dog trainer David Hutchins, and you can also check him out at his fab site, pupMIA.
Happy 4th of July!
