Yesterday, we spoke about the hero dogs of 9/11, well if you want to show your support, join Lorenzo, Whoopi Goldberg, Victoria Stilwell and others in celebration of their bravery tonight.
The Tribute to the Hero Dogs of 9/11 is to be held tonight at the National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, New York City, with a reception and media outreach starting at 5.30, and the dinner program at 6.30pm.
And, on Veteran’s Day, the Hallmark Channel will broadcast a 90 minute tribute to American Humane Association’s Hero Dogs, so make sure you tune in.
The dinner’s proceeds will go towards helping the American Humane Society fund their many worthy projects, including the Red Star™ Animal Emergency Services, which rescues and shelters animals after natural disasters; Animal-Assisted Therapy programs; and programs that benefit children in the child protective system.
The event is in honour of our four-footed heros of 9/11, and they will all be remembered, including Sirius, the only dog to die during the disaster, and Roselle, who led her blind master and his colleague down 78 flights of steps to safety in a World Trade Center building 15 minutes before it collapsed.
Its stories like this and others that will be spoken about tonight, and these dogs will be remembered, honoured and celebrated. Animals are so much more than a companion who we feed in the morning and night, and who greets us when we come home. Sometimes they are a reason for living, or the reason we are still alive today (often in a more literal meaning).
But whether an animal is a bonafide hero who worked tirelessly in a disaster to save lives or bring home something of the dead so a family can put their loved one to rest, or simply our best friend never judges and keeps loneliness at bay, they all deserve to have a loving home, and to live in comfort and safety, no matter what their role to society is.
So tonight, if you can’t make it, then click here to either donate, join up, or take action to help the AHA in their wonderful work, or simply give thanks to our own Prince Lorenzo Borghese, who is representing us all, as he honours the often-overlooked heros of 9/11.
